Topic: Scam/Fraud

With the consistent rise of the unfortunate amount of scam/fraud that occurs, it is increasingly important for financial institutions to be knowledgeable in this aspect. As we know financial institutions must be ahead of any and all possible scam/fraud to ensure security of the institution and its members. Amarillo Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit has made a point of educating the public about crime issues; “A properly informed citizen will find it much easier to reduce his or her risk of becoming a victim of crime”. It is our jobs as financial experts to pass along the necessary information to our members. This presentation is aimed at examining the processes scam artists take and how to avoid current issues and be prepared for the future scams/fraud that will inevitably occur.

Brent is the Crime Prevention Unit Supervisor. He has been with the Amarillo Police Department for 35 years. He worked as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor, and robbery/sex investigator.
