Speaker: Thomas C. Edwards, Resident Agent in Charge, United States Secret Service

Tom Edwards is a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Secret Service. As the Resident Agent in Charge of the Austin Resident Office, Tom oversees the daily investigative and protective activities of the agency’s local office. His office sponsors the Central Texas Financial Fraud Task Force which partners with local police agencies to combat various financial and electronic crimes impacting the community. Throughout his law enforcement career, he has served in numerous protective, investigative, and headquarters assignments in California, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Lima, Peru. Prior to his current appointment, he developed and implemented agency policy relating to classified network security, insider threat, and risk assessments. Tom was also congressional fellow to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary. While on the Hill, he managed a legislative portfolio of law enforcement legislation regarding data breaches, currency counterfeiting, mortgage fraud, and the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego.
